Insert the prong and slide up until unit clicks. Locate a smooth surface and clean the surface thoroughly where suction cup will be mounted. For best results, use an alcohol pad to remove any oil or dirt. Allow to dry completely. Moisten suction cup and apply the base to the surface of the cleaned area. Snap the latch located on the base to lock it into place. To release the unit from a surface, pull the two tabs on the latch to loosen the suction cup. Securing and releasing your device: Push and hold the button until the width is larger than your device. Rest your device on the cradle ledge and then squeeze both side arms of the cradle until your device is secure. DO NOT MANUALLY PULL APART THE CRADLE ARMS. USE THE BUTTON TO RELEASE YOUR DEVICE. I use it in the car and on my desk. It gets more use on my desk. It holds the tab better the HDMI base and makes the tab super easy to use hands free. Mounts to any slick surface and stays put. it holds it firmly with no question about it going anywhere. Con: power conection is weird making it a little odd removing it but only a minor issues. It comes with a 12v cable which is great. I drove with it mounted over the area that I travel the most frequently so I feel confident in my assessment. This item is really well built and I am happy with my purchase. The suction holder is strong and I have no doubt that it will hold to the glass of my windshield without falling. It held the tablet weight with no problems and was easily adjustable to any angle and orientation. The one tightening knob on the back of the holder is easy to loosen and tighten. It even looks good in my opinion. The Vehicle Dock (pictured on page 5 of the user manual) is also strong and designed to hold the tablet well. I am also confident that it will not fall out of the Dock. There is a charging adaptor on one end that connects to the tablet and will charge it while it's connected to the Dock and the Dock is connected to a cig lighter adaptor provided with purchase. I was concerned that the item would be oversized in order to hold the tablet and would be so big that I wouldn't want it on the dash. This is not the case at all. It is barely noticeable for what it does. I can't think of how it could be any smaller and still hold the tablet as well. So why did I give it only 4 stars and the almost perfect title? It's due to the design of the attachment of the Vehicle Dock to the Suction Holder. The Dock attaches to the Holder by four "peg hooks" on the center of the Holder that enter the Dock in the rear. Once the hooks are in the Dock, you then slide the Dock downward (of course this is assuming you have the Dock oriented vertically with the charging port on the bottom) to secure it to the Holder. Sounds great right? The problem is that it never locks in place. This is both good and not-so-good. It's good in that you can easily remove the Dock from the Holder to use the Tablet. It's not so good in that when I was driving over Railroad tracks, it shook loose and dropped the tablet onto my steering wheel. It may be important to some to know that I had the tablet oriented horizontally but to me, this should not matter. This morning, I used it again but tilted the Dock very slightly to the right. When I went over the same tracks there was no problem. I may have pressed the Dock a little harder into the Holder knowing that there might be an issue but it was not a conscious effort if I did. The other reason I didn't give it the last (fifth) star is because of the shake/bounce factor. The tablet will bounce violently if you have any issue at all with your tires or if the road is in any way bumpy. I really can't see a way to avoid this without resting the tablet on the dash even though it is in the Dock. In fact, this might even cause the Holder to lose suction having no way to disperse the shaking produced by the road or your tires. In the end, I love how this unit works as a Navigation system and displays an actual picture of the road and buildings as I drive vs. a drawn map. The traffic overlay and silent rerouting when I don't take the route that the tablet wants me to take are all exactly how I like a Navigation system to work. Be sure you have enough real estate on your dash for this unit with the tablet inserted. You may have to mount it to the left side of your windshield instead of the center so you can see the road. I would definitely not recommend mounting it under the rear view mirror as you won't be able to see a very important area of the road. *****AMMENDED REVIEW****** I was remounting the Dock on the Holder and pushed a little harder than I had the first few times. This apparently is how hard you're supposed to push because it snapped in place. It looks good and fits perfect unless, like me, you have your Tab in a case. It's a bit inconvenient to remove the case but a small price to pay for a well-built mount since I'm not likely to mount it up except for longer trips.
