A charger does not come with this. (You would think it would at this price!) You have to use your existing wall charger, the one that initially came with your tab. Was a pain in the hee-haw connecting the cradle and the base together. Had to press really, really, REALLY hard for the two pieces to snap together. Felt like it would break. Be sure that the cradle is fully mounted on the base. the cradle should touch the top of your desk/table just like the base does. If it doesn't then you haven't pressed really, really, REALLY hard enough. The Tab won't make proper contact with the base unless you do. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful: Great Dock - As Long As You Know Its Limitations!    This review is from: Samsung Galaxy Tab Desktop Dock (ECR-D980BEGSTA) (Personal Computers) I carefully read all of the reviews before purchasing the dock, so I knew the important facts: 1) It needs a mini HDMI cable that does not come with the dock. 2) It needs a charging cable (like the one that came with your tab) that does not come with the dock. 3) You cannot use the dock to view media hub content (media purchased through Samsung). I bit the bullet, bought the cables when I bought the dock, and now I can happily watch on my family room television any movies or tv shows which I have ripped or downloaded myself. I would have been very angry as the other posters were, if I wasn't aware of these facts before I bought the dock. Thanks to all of the previous posters for making my experience better. I did take one star away due to the fact that Samsung didn't make the limitations of the dock clear initially. 36 of 47 people found the following review helpful: BE CAREFUL    This review is from: Samsung Galaxy Tab Desktop Dock (ECR-D980BEGSTA) (Personal Computers) BE VERY CAREFUL Samsung positions this HDMI adapter as a way to watch movies and TV shows that you buy on your Galaxy Tab on your TV, but they leave out the inconvenient fact that movies and TV shows you purchase through the Samsung Media Hub or any other DRM protected media are copy protected, and thus won't play on your TV. A message stating, ""HDMI blocked during Protected Content Playback" appears on your TV screen instead of any picture or sound output. I bought a movie to watch on the Samsung Media Hub and I figured it would be simple to download it to my new Galaxy Tab, buy the Media Dock, and connect it to my Samsung TV. Did it work? NO! Supposedly, Samsung will sell me a movie to watch, sell me the device to connect my Galaxy Tab to my TV, sell me the TV, but no, I can't watch the movie I bought. The Samsung "customer care" people say "it plays on your Galaxy Tab, so we won't give you a refund" for the movie I bought on the Samsung site. Question: If this is how Samsung treats their customers, how do they treat their enemies? Galaxy Tab: great so far Samsung HDMI MultiMedia Dock: Avoid at all costs, unless you want to watch un-copy protected shows/movies on your TV. (Unless, in other words, you're a geek who knows how to rip DVDs / Movies / Stuff to your computer, then transform it to a format your Galaxy Tab will play, then put it on your tab. Short answer - don't buy it, because you can't watch all the stuff you will want to watch) Samsung Media Hub movie and TV purchases: be ready to spend hours IM'ing and talking with "customer service" representatives if what you buy doesn't do what you expect.
